Not all cashmere is created equal! Here's a guide to help you decide what sustainability really means.
High quality cashmere, or grade 'A', with the longest, finest fibre length should be carefully inspected and certified. Grade 'B' and 'C' have a shorter and thicker fibre length. These lower grades are often unregulated in terms of animal and worker rights, purity and ethical production methods. Henderson Cashmere only uses the finest grade 'A' fibres in all of our cashmere garments.
High-quality, ethically produced cashmere is increasingly supported by dedicated monitoring organizations such as The Good Cashmere Standard by AbTF®️ and The Sustainable Fiber Alliance (SFA) .
These organizations aim to support the restoration and conservation of vital grasslands, ensure fair and humane treatment of people and animals involved in the production of cashmere garments, provide full transparency throughout the production process, and contribute to the transformation of the complex supply chain from herders to retailers.
At Henderson Cashmere, we believe that every garment designer and manufacturer has a responsibility to ensure that these ethical and environmental standards of sustainability are embraced and maintained. Our commitment to these standards is the foundation of our company and extends into every aspect of our brand, from finding the most environmentally friendly methods of shipping and distribution to our choice of recycled/recyclable packaging materials.
